Mount Dana, Yosemite National Park, 1999

Summit of Mt Dana Summit of Mount Dana, CA Fall 1999
This Rick, Irene and me at the top of Mt Dana.  The elevation here is just over 13,000 feet.  One other hiker was on the summit and he kindly snapped this photo for us
This is me in front of Dana in October Mount Dana!...check!That hump in the middle of the picture is Mount Dana.  It is not the most photogenic mountain is it?  The mileage and elevation gain was just right though.  And the view was terrific.  This picture was snapped from the trailhead.  The trailhead is right at the Yosemite National Park's Tioga Road entrance.  It the eastern end of the park near the town of Lee Vining and Mono Lake.  You can park very close, just inside the park or just outside.  We saw no more than five other people that day.  So if you want to get away from the crowded trails around the valley, this is one way to do it.  The mountain has a backside that is very steep and offers ice climbing.

I have just put on a clean dry shirt and feel good, later on the long drive back I eventually got rid of my headache.
